Dehradun is the capital city of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. It is nestled in the Doon Valley, at the foothills of the Himalayas.  It is known for its educational institutions, especially boarding schools. It is a hub for adventure activities and serves as a base for treks and hikes in the region.

Dehradun’s pleasant climate, scenic beauty, educational opportunities, and historical significance make it a popular destination for tourists and residents alike.

Chakrata is a small hill town located at an altitude of approximately 2,118 meters (6,949 feet) above sea level and is about 80 kilometres from Dehradun city. Chakrata is nestled amidst the picturesque Shivalik Range of the Himalayas. The town is surrounded by dense forests, hills, and valleys, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and the Yamuna Valley. It is known for its serene and untouched natural beauty. Some popular tourist spots in and around Chakrata include Tiger Falls, Deoban, Budher Caves (ancient limestone caves).

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Dehradun

Hotel Stay: Hotel Viceroy or similar (3-star)

The Cycle tour starts from Dehradun, which is the capital city of the Indian state of Uttarakhand. This day is reserved for riders to meet and greet with co riders and Dare2Gear team. Today evening around 6 pm the rider registration process shall begin in which waiver form and medical form shall be collected and rider kits shall be handed over to you. Post it detailed briefing about the cycling tour which will include ride profile, elevation details, safety protocols, team introduction followed by dinner. Today is a rest day so that before the next day ride you have sound sleep and easy day.

Day 2: Dehradun to Chakrata | 87 Km

Hotel Stay: Divyansh Resort or similar (3 Star)
Flag-off Time: 7:00 AM

Wake up early morning and get ready to begin the ride through the beautiful mountains oh Uttarakhand. Today ride will begin with plains of Dehradun and we will hit the climb of mountains with gradual climb after 40km of riding in plains. From Dakpathar climb will begin for next 40 km with ups and downs and closing 7km are superb downhill. From there onwards single lane will begin but at the same time the scenic beauty of mountains will keep increasing with each pedal.

During the ride you will get Hydration, Nutrition and Technical support. On the way we will take a halt at Midway for lunch and refuelling, then shall resume the ride. Once you reach Chakrata rest in the Hotel enjoy beautiful mountains from the terrace of the hotel, have delicious dinner, and get your cycles some Rest. Post dinner, have some sound sleep to wake up early for the next day ride and bath under the giant TIGER waterfall.

Day 3: Chakrata to Dehradun | 104 Km

Flag-off Time: 10:30 AM

Today morning at 6:30 am Tea will be served and at 7:00 am sharp, we will drive to tiger waterfall in support vehicles. Shall reach there by 7:30 have an hour shower under the majestic waterfall. At 9:00 we will start return journey to hotel and enjoy the lavish breakfast.

Today we will cover about 104 km, the ride will start from Chakrata and will return via different route. Initially 22km is climb then another 7km downhill post it a short climb of 5 km towards lakh war. You can have lunch en-route at in Lakhwar. Post lunch there will be ride of last 70 km out of which 42 are in plains and rest is downhill towards Dakpather.

Once you reach the hotel, enjoy your Welcome drink. Temporary rooms will be provided for freshen up and changing the clothes, which will be commonly shared by the riders. We will enjoy the facilitation ceremony followed by delicious dinner. Post it we will leave for our sweet homes with lots of memories and a sense of achievement with us and the unforgettable memories to cherish forever.

A Common pickup point with defined time will be shared 5 days before the trip in Noida/Delhi, you have to reach there on time. Which type of cycles are allowed in this ride?

As this ride is designed to explore mountains so only 2 types are cycles are allowed, MTB cycles or MTB focused hybrid cycles with minimum tire width of 700*45C. No any other type of bike is allowed like road or rigid fork hybrid to ensure the safety of each rider.

Do you provide cycle on rent, if yes then which bike you provide?

Will I get the cycle according to my height for this ride?

As we have multiple cycle to offer on rent for all sizes ranging from S to XL, so you will get the cycle of right frame size for your ride.

What is included in the cost of cycle rental?

We give only cycle to ride all other mandatory items and accessories you want on cycle you have to bring yourself.

I have taken a cycle on rent When will I get and where?

You will get the cycle on rent a day before start of ride. You will get your cycle at in the same hotel where you will be staying on day one of tour.

I am an Amateur cyclist can I register for it as I want to join this ride for an experience?

Yes, you can do that and our team will be there to make sure you get the best experience of riding. As our team is of qualified and experienced riders team so they will help you to understand how much to push the limits and when to take a back seat in support vehicle.

Do you have any Minimum Speed Criteria for this Ride?

There are no as such defined timelines to cross any checkpoints but at the same time rider should be riding at an average pace of 8-9 km/hr in mountains to finish the full ride on saddle. If you will not be able to manage this pace, no need to worry our support team will be there to pick you from Point A to Point B and you can again continue your ride from there.

Do I have to submit any medical fitness certificate for this Ride?

I have already accepted the terms and conditions do I still need to fill the waiver form?

We understand at the time of registration you have accepted the terms and condition. But there is probability that due to short of time may any of the important information may got skipped to read so a hard copy of signed document is must. Can I submit the digital signed copy of Forms asked for the ride?

Yes, we accept digital signed copies also for that you need to coordinate with tour leader who will be assigned to you post your registration done.

I am under 18 can I also join the ride?

Yes, you can also join the ride with the consent of your parents. You have to get a disclaimer form signed by your parents and submit it before the ride with us.

If I forgot to bring any of the mandatory things you have mentioned, will I be allowed to ride?

No, without any of the mandatory things as mentioned above you are not allowed to ride. So either bring them along or can purchase from us.

At what time we can check - in at Hotel?

Rooms shall be allocated after 12 pm by Hotel on the day of tour beginning. So any time post it you can check in and ask at reception about your room number.

Will medical support is also there for riders?

Yes FIRST-AID shall be provided immediately to the rider as and when needed. If in case any critical emergency rider needs to visit the hospital that shall be taken care of by us. But the expense of the hospital shall be taken care of by rider only.

Does tour cost cover our medical insurance also?

No, tour cost doesn’t include your medical insurance.

When and Where should I submit my cycle for Meraki ride as I have taken cycle transportation service?

Can I get the detailed route map of the ride?

Yes, this shall be provided to confirmed riders post registrations process gets completed.

What are the safety rules for this Tour?

1) It is compulsory to wear a helmet for the entire duration of the ride. Riders without a helmet will not be permitted to ride.

2) Every rider must use their own lights for riding in dark times, bicycles must be equipped with front and rear lights attached firmly to the vehicle. Lights must be fully functional. If lights will not be working you are not allowed to ride.

3) All riders must wear a reflective vest that clearly places reflective material prominently on the front and back of the rider. If you will not be wearing reflective vests you are not allowed to ride.

4) This ride is open to any amateur cyclist regardless of his or her cycling affiliations. Riders (under the age of 18) must get a consent form signed by his or her parent or legal guardian

5) Each rider must be covered by liability insurance, either by a group policy or by a personal policy.

6) Our Sikh brothers – We have RELAXED THE MANDATORY HELMET RULE for Sikh Riders. But the rider must either wear a full Turban and not just a Patka.

I am coming by my Vehicle to Chandigarh where can I park my Vehicle?

You can park your Vehicle at Hotel parking itself from where the ride begins.
