Cycling a Passionate sporting activity for lifelong fitness..
Before I write ahead, I introduce myself as a mid-aged O &G professional with not having any sporting background and now an “endurance Runner /Cyclists” who took up to running & Cycling as a passionate remedy for fitness and good health.
As an endurance sportsman, it’s quite possible to drift away with high pressure endurance activities and repetitive ones too to prove to oneself and maybe somewhat to other fellow runners/cyclists too.
Pursuing in regular Marathons & challenges ( 100 days Triathlon was my first ever challenge which involves sports activities) following drastic changes happened to me. Since I am on rotational job unable to do swimming when was away from home have adopted for Level 2 : Duathlon challenge.
Key takeaway for all endurance sportsman running/cycling for fitness and passion are following 4 significant elements which helps me to complete the task with leading the leaderboard of Level -2 which covered 900+ Kms of cycling & 400 kms of running.

(1) Rest – Adequate sleep is very important for any form of endurance training. One big mistake that we all make usually is not getting enough sleep, in hope of getting that extra 30 minutes of running.
(2) Eat – Being a vegetarian in a country famous for its sweets, it is no surprise that even I had a sweet tooth. One of the biggest personal challenges I faced was to cut back on desserts and include more sources of calcium, protein, and carbs in my diet.
(3) Listen to your body - In excitement of improving performance in marathons, never ignore your body. Body undergoes wear and tear regularly. Giving it sufficient time to heal is as much important as the passion with which you put on your shoes !
(D) Train well - Key to successful and long term endurance sporting is to train regularly under qualified trainers. Random training can lead to injuries that can affect not just your performance but your daily life activities as well.
Last but not the least, always remember - “ Enjoy what you do & do what you enjoy “ Be it running, cycling or anything else, remember that you are not competing against anyone but with yourself, for your own fitness and passion. So never get in trap of competing with one another BUT enjoy whatever sport you take up as living your passion and healthy sporting.
If it’s fitness and passion then it has to be lifelong and not short term. It cannot be for a year or two to become a hero and then become zero but to continue for all life with aim to be healthy and smiling at all times.
Keep Running , Keep Cycling , Keep Smiling , Live healthy with disciplined life & be selfish for your own fitness. Remember Only I can change myself. No one can stop any one from becoming “Unstoppable”.
